How to Make a Payment to a Freelancer on Twine

Once you've hired a freelancer on Twine and need to make a payment, follow these steps:

1. Ensure the Freelancer is Marked as Hired

Before any payment can be made, the freelancer must be officially hired for the project. If you haven’t marked the freelancer as hired yet, make sure to do so on the Manage Jobs page.

2. Make a Payment

Once the freelancer is hired, you have two options for making a payment:

Option 1: Create a New Payment

From the Manage Jobs page, click the "New Payment" button.
You’ll be taken to a payment page where you can enter the amount you'd like to pay.

Option 2: Release Vaulted Payment

If you have already vaulted a payment (i.e., deposited the funds into the Twine Vault for safe-keeping), locate the specific job under Manage Jobs.
Click the three dots next to the project, and select "Make Payment" from the dropdown .
You can choose to release the vaulted payment whenever the agreed-upon milestone is reached.

3. Select Your Payment Type

When creating a new payment, you’ll have two options:

Vault Payment: This holds the payment securely with Twine. You can release the funds when a milestone or the entire project is com

How to: Add examples to your portfolio

Making your portfolio look visually stunning is really important to impress and client and win work from them. This is particularly important for visual freelancers, such as designers, videographers, illustrators and animators, but it's also important for other types of freelancers such as musicians, marketers and developers.

There are now two different ways to add examples to your portfolio:

New Project
New project with files

To upload either of these types of project visit your Manage projects page and select which type you would like.

New project

This option is for text and embedded links. You can use markdown text here to make your project description appealing and also embed links. We advise the use of this type of project if you do not have a physical file to upload or you wish to link to external sites.

For this type of project you will be required to provide the following:

Title - This should be the title of the project or work. If it's video work, perhaps the title of the film, or if it's a website design, perhaps the name of the brand

Changing your location

How to:

Visit your bio section on your portfolio, click the pencil icon on the top right corner and add your location. You can also edit your bio and day rate in this section

Select the location from the drop-down list that appears

Don't forget to click 'Save' when done!

Tips:

The location must be written in English and be in the format of town/city and country.

| 💡We recommend choosing the largest town/city closest to you so you receive more job notifications

If you have added your location but this is not registering in your ranking banner, please do the following:

Enter a different city and country, making sure you select from the drop-down provided
Click save
Go back on to edit your location and reenter the correct location
Click save and this should have corrected the error.

This is a known error and we will have a fix soon!

We offer a range of pay-out methods to ensure members of our community across the globe can get paid for delivering projects through Twine.

US Bank Transfer (ACH)
UK Bank Transfer (Faster Payments)
EU Bank Transfer (SEPA)
International Wire Transfer (SWIFT, wire)
Payoneer
PayPal
OutVoice

To use any of these payout methods you need to update it in your Settings under Payments & Subscriptions.

Transaction Fees

To enable different payout options, we've had to add payment transaction fees to some of the options:

For $ (USD) jobs:

US bank - $2.00 fee
UK bank - $1.25 fee
EU bank - $2.25 fee
PayPal - 6% fee
Payoneer - $4.60 fee
International Wire Transfer - $10.00 and 3% fee
OutVoice - 3% fee (Recommended for micro-projects)

For £ (GBP) jobs:

US bank - £1.75 fee
UK bank - no fee
EU bank - £1.75 fee
PayPal - 6% fee
Payoneer - £4.00 fee
International Wire Transfer - £5.00 and 1% fee
OutVoice - 3% fee (Recommended for micro-projects)

Note - PayPal and Payoneer may have their own fees in addition to Twine transaction fees.

Pro members have access to all of the same payout options and pay no fees for any of these options.
